RED GLASS (AFTER/FOR BARBARA T. SMITH) / Matt Connors
RED GLASS (AFTER/FOR BARBARA T. SMITH) / Matt Connors
11x14 inch C-print
Signed and numbered in an edition of 50
Paying homage to the work of fellow artist Barbara T. Smith, Matt Connor’s edition for The Song Cave takes the metaphoric action “to reflect” literally, and focuses his camera upon the shimmering reflections found on the surface of one of his own paintings. By revealing its domestic surroundings and a glimpse of the trees and sky beyond it, Connors’ photograph multiplies and layers his notions of reflection and reverence into a poetically elegant and striking still life.
Matt Connors’ work is represented by Cherry and Martin in Los Angeles, Canada in New York City, and Markus Luttgen in Koln, Germany. His work has been exhibited worldwide, including solo shows at Canada (New York), Cherry and Martin (Los Angeles), Herald St. (London), KARMA (New York), and MoMA PS1 (New York). His work has been included in group shows at MoMA (New York), Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), Kunstmuseum Bonn (Germany), Gladstone Gallery (Brussels), and Office Baroque (Belgium), among others.
